Horse Head Nebula in HaHaGB.

After the moon has passed the Full moon face and gone into the last quarter, i started shooting B33/IC434 in full color with the QHY12. This time, i’m using 20mins exposures because for my light polluted skies 30mins is too much.

So, i managed to accumulate 9hrs of RGB. Unfortunately 5 of those 9 have a slightly different framing and they have a very bad reflection from Alnitak and with it, all sorts of other reflections that my first 4 hours don’t.

So, anyways i processed them all and tried using many many ways to combine the RGB with the Ha. I tried using the HaRGBCombination script from PI, also tried the newer NBRGBCombination, and finally i tried LRGB combination using HaRGB and HaHaGB.

Amoung all of those, the less likely to work was the one i most liked HaHaGB, it is smoother and the colors are nice. I had to replace the stars with RGB ones, using masks.

So, enough talk, here are the 3 versions:

This is the one from the Script HaRGBCombination from PixInsight:

B33_HaRGB

This the RGB only, no Ha:

B33_RGB_final_9hrs

And this one is the one i liked the most:

HaHaGB with RGB Stars:

B33_HaHaGB_19_9

I’m Planning to replace the 5hrs with reflections with another 9 without.

Stay tuned.

thanks for watching.
